City cited shed --- What to do?

Shed Inside debris

When the senior residents of this home were cited for the condition of their backyard shed, they could not take it down themselves, nor could they afford to pay to have the work done.   The building was filled with debris, most of which was ruined since the roof had partially caved in years ago.    Rich Piper, SAS home repair specialist, worked with two adult volunteers and a team of high school youth from St. Anne’s in Coppell. Over the course of three days (working only until early afternoon to avoid the worst heat), this group filled a dumpster with debris and construction materials.

Job Done!  Thanks to all involved!

Home Repair Specialist for Senior Adult Services (SAS)

Sunchase work

Last week, Rich Piper, Home Repair Speialist for Senior Adult Services (SAS), had his work cut out for him!  Every year, SAS, a non-profit that provides assistance to older residents of Addison, Carrollton, Coppell and Farmers Branch, has a summer bonanza as minor to major Home Repair projects are tackled by scores of student and corporate volunteers.

New SAS Board President - Bob Garza

New Board President

As most of you know by now our good friend and board Chairman Gary Farrar has moved to Missouri and effective June 1, 2010 yours truly became the Chairman of the Senior Adult Services (SAS) Board of Directors.

I would like to thank my good friend Herb Weidinger for nominating me to the board 4 years ago.  I came into the appointment with an open mind and eager to become an effective and involved member of the board.  The SAS staff does a tremendous job caring for our seniors in Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, and Farmers Branch cities.  With the board’s help I will do all that I can to continue the great tradition and excellent reputation SAS has earned over the years and hope to use my 35 years of corporate training to insure our seniors are well taken care of.
